Hi Everyone..Welcome to The Fante Kitchen...I will be exploring the world of Ghanaian
sweets and snacks as well as Ghanaian food. I have an interesting collection of Ghanaian cookbooks and I thought it would be nice to document the process as I test the recipes in these books. These books are from 1950s, 1970s 1980s and 1990s. I think its important to see how these recipes work today..in the American kitchen... with ingredients available in America today. My target group is first anyone who loves Ghanaian food..period..you have to love it to want to cook it right?. The second group would be first and second generation Ghanaian-Americans who have never lived in Ghana for a long period of time but grew up or live in a typical Ghanaian household. The third group would be avid foodies interested in exploring new cuisines.
I chose the name Fante Kitchen first of all because I am a proud Fante woman. Fantes are considered as the epicures of Ghana.. Dessert and tea time rituals were part of the Fantes lifestyle waaaay before it was popular. As a true Fante, I love food and all things beautiful... To me the Fante kitchen captures the essence of good Ghanaian cooking...in heels! Enjoy everyone!
